I understand that PR is difficult and that a game's scope can change during development, but I think it's important to remember that some of these statements really were outright lies. Sean was very clear about that demo planet being random picked and not hand crafted. The reason for a lack of multiplayer experience had nothing to do with the universe being so large. Then there was that one about redesigning the periodic table so that atmospheric particles would refract the light in just the right way to make different colors. Absolute nonsense. With that said, I do have a lot of respect for the team for continuing development and providing free major updates for years. As is often the case, the story is a bit more complicated than simple good guys and bad guys.

Society will truly never learn that half of these product “shortages” that happen are because of people panicking. Mfs would rather freak out, and cause a toilet paper shortage, then actually take the time to realize there’s no shortage in the first place
